REVLON COLLECTION EXCLUSIVE’S TRY ON & REVIEW (NUDES, PINKS, & REDS)
Happy Wednesday, Ladies! Today’s post is pretty simple, but a lot of fun. I’ve recently been on the hunt for more variety in my lip color. I’ve always been a true red, plum, or my-lip-color-pinky-nude person. For some reason, all corals and many nudes and pinks have been scary for me. I decided I would experiment only in the drug store to look for affordable shades that seemed a little different. I ended up liking all of the pinks, many of the dark nudes, and some of the reds from the L’Oreal Collection Exclusive’s lines, so I decided to pick up all the shades and give a full collection review! Keep reading to get the review and see all of the colors on!
REVLON COLLECTION EXCLUSIVE’S THOUGHTS
One thing I don’t like is that there doesn’t seem to be many shades with coral undertones. That’s a color I’m really wanting to explore more, but all of the shades except one were totally up my alley and I’ll wear them constantly! The one I’m not so sure about, Doutzen’s Nude, I may try layering under a sheer berry colored lipgloss because I think it would make a really pretty base color – I’ll let you know how it goes!
I also noticed that many of the shades are quite similar, but you kind of have to expect that when colors are based off of a person rather than trying to accomplish a range. When I swatched them on the back of my hand, I could really tell the difference between the colors, but on my lips it was not as obvious. My skin tone has fairly neutral undertones, however, which means I can wear most colors without them fighting with my natural skin color so if you like a color you see below and there seems to be some similar ones, head to the drug store and take a look at the tube and pick the color with the right undertones for your own skin tone.
Honestly, you can’t go wrong with really any of these shades. I enjoyed the formula on all of them, some seemed to tug a little more during application and showed a little more matte, but overall the finish was so similar I don’t think you would struggle with a random failed formula. As far as wear, my lips were a little dry, but I wore Zoe’s Red all day yesterday and really didn’t need to reapply for about 4 hours, during which I did eat, but it wasn’t a food that is known for rubbing away lipstick like a burger or something you have to bite into.
THE TRY ON
I’m super excited to play with these colors more! The quest for breaking out of my lipstick comfort zone isn’t quite completed yet, but I’m super happy to have a variety of options to help me spice up my look even just a little bit!
The photos from the collections are below, under their proper heading, and the first photo is my lips with nothing on them so you can see what I’m working with! I took all the photos in natural window light around mid-day, and did not edit anything.
